Rim Fire Benchrest for Score Match
May 26, 2013
The match was well attended with 16 competitors enjoying the warm weather, sunshine and camaraderie.
Bolt Action Class
First place Phil Nick 742/750
Second place Jake Choquette 733/750
Third place Burt Bastien 731/750
Fourth place Katelyn Jack 701/750. Katelynn is a 12 year old girl from Emo shooting a Savage with CCI ammunition in her first Bench Rest match. The three retired gentlemen that placed ahead of Katelynn probably have a combined total of at least 150 years shooting experience. They were also shooting expensive highly accurate target rifles. Katelynn surprised a lot of veteran shooters with her shooting skills.

Thanks to all who came out to support the Club and thanks to the volunteers who performed the duties of tournament officials as Range officers, Referees, Target Detail, scoring and special thanks to Al Cardinal for the barbequed lunch.
Recent Zombie sightings were reported in Alberta in the last few weeks and I was dispatched by the Zombie Alert Squad to investigate the occurrences.
My report is as follows.
At the end of April, Zombies were reportedly seen in the Edmonton, Alberta area. Since these are my old stomping grounds I was called upon to investigate these sightings. The Genesee Gun Range had an incident where Zombies had been spotted right on the gun range and were causing havoc and mayhem out on the range floor. Members were called out on a weekend to help eradicate the Zombie horde. Much ammunition was used and the blitz lasted for hours, requiring many reloads and volleys fired down range at the Zombies. Range safety officers were in attendance and hot dogs and hamburgers were available for the members to replenish themselves as the day wore on. The shoot was a success, however some Zombies escaped and were last seen heading east in our direction!
In a few days I will update the situation and let you all know the status of the missing Zombies. If you do encounter a Zombie, remain calm and let any of the executive know. We may be called upon to remedy the situation if the Zombies do show up in our area. I will keep you updated. Please watch this site for more information.
Our 2013 brochure is available here. It gives a great snapshot of what is happening at the club this year. Please feel free to distribute to all your friends!
Spring is here so the gate will remain locked until the road is in suitable condition to drive on. The range is still open and available to be used but you will need to walk in.
Road is open again! Thanks!
Saturday May 18th
Hotdogs, hamburgers and pop will be available.
As of March 7th, 2013 your board of directors has passed a motion to cancel the requirement to attend a yearly compulsory shooting event to maintain your A.T.T. You MUST, however, sign the register that is inside the building. If your name does not appear in the registry book at least once during the year, you will be contacted by the board of directors to find out why you have become inactive or if you cannot get out to enjoy our facility.
The board of directors passed a further resolution regarding the cancellation of A.T.T.’s. An A.T.T. can only be revoked by the board of directors for non payment of dues, a serious safety infraction, or failure to renew your firearms licence.
If any member has questions regarding these changes please contact Gil Pelletier, Handgun Division chair, at 465-5978 or Al Cardinal, President, at 543-3538.
The Club is looking for a new logo this year! We would like members to submit their ideas with the intention of landing on a new logo at the AGM in October. The logo should reflect our foundation in the shooting sports. Please send submissions to Glen Archer or contact him by phone at 548-5614.
