On Snow Biathlon Training Gets Underway In Kenora December 11, 2014
After approximately thirty visits to the range at the Lake of The Woods Gun Club since August for shooting practice we are now able to ski and shoot. I skied 12km with my rifle today on freshly groomed trails. Thanks to Fero Metalcraft’s James and Jason for designing and building the new roller/skate groomer and to the Lake of The Woods Gun Club for making our access to the facility easier this year.
Eight weeks today I have my first race at World Masters and with access to a great shooting facility feel well prepared from a shooting perspective. Now comes the hundreds of kilometers of skiing to build on snow comfort and fitness to make the skiing better than ever. Katy and Karly Lockhart continue to train hard pursuing positions on Team Manitoba for the Canada Winter Games in Prince George, BC. We have also had a variety of our club members up to the range for shooting practice in the fall and can now combine the two aspects of our sport in their training, and introduction to the sport.
The fall closing b.b.q.and shoot was a success. It was well attended by more than 35 people. There was a good cross section of shooters in attendance, from the first time shooter to the skilled veteran, all who showed up had fun shooting, with lots of different targets and rates of success. The new dueling trees had a good work out ..One of the participants was overheard to say that this was the most fun he’d had in ages. and that is what shooting sports is about , having fun. -Art Ladd
